McDonald mutation rates are provided by Iain McDonald via the McGee project in 2018. On this page mutation rates are multiplied by 1000. They are sorted from slowest to fastest and show a speed continuum. The labels xslow, slow, med, fast, xfast are arbitrarily decided by the administrator and do not necessarily reflect the opinion of professionals.
The Ferguson project and McGee utilities maintain these rates. Iain McDonald published these rates in the Yahoo R-U106 forum September 2017. Unfortunately, the Yahoo forums no longer exist.
Prior versions of this page simply maintained a copy of what is available on the McGee mutations page. This McDonald rates page has subsequently been updated with more precise values.
Ordinarily you'd expect to see 111 markers, not 102. Some markers have multiple values and are counted as one mutating entity. Markers with more than one value are shown below with the number of values they contain in parentheses ().
Haplotype tables you might see in projects utilizing the assignment of relative speeds as of 2020 need an update of the headers to reflect changes accordingly. The impact should be minimal.
